Updated over a week ago

The KPMG Origins Sandbox Learning Environment is a pre-production environment that allows users to trial the IWTS solution. The sandbox allows you to familiarise yourself with how the solution works and understand the potential changes to your operational processes.

Importantly, with the exception of Users, no data entered into the Sandbox Learning Environment will be considered real and you're able to add 'made-up' data without any consequences as long as it complies with the KPMG Origins End User Terms of Use. Please ensure that all Users added to your Sandbox Learning Environment account are real and authorised users of your organisation.

Whilst in the Sandbox, we recommend you undertake the following activities:

Review your details

Review your Organisation and Location details

You can view your account details via your settings account page.

You can view your locations details via your settings locations page.

If you identify any issues that you would like corrected prior to regulatory go-live in production, please email the changes to [email protected].

Review your Users

As an administrative user, you can view your account’s Users via the Users page within your account settings. This can be found under Settings > Account.

Create trial movement authorisations

The Sandbox Learning Environment is currently configured to create trial movement authorisations (consignment authorisations) for the following categories of movements:

  • Hazardous and other regulated waste within NSW that requires authorisation

  • Hazardous and other regulated waste moving from all other states to NSW that requires authorisation

  • Hazardous and other regulated waste moving from NSW to QLD that requires authorisation

For waste types requiring a movement authorisation to be approved by the regulator or licenced receiver, you will need to create some dummy authorisations prior to being able to create trial movements.

Similar to the trial movements below, you are able to create movement authorisations in isolation and/or with other participants within your supply chain. Note for QLD dummy movement authorisations, the QLD Department of Environment and Science will also be involved in trialling the process of dummy review and approval.

Create trial movements

The Sandbox Learning Environment allows you to create trial movements in isolation and/or with other participants within your supply chain. To learn how to create your first movement see this article on creating movements.

Creating trial movements in isolation of other participants

In the Sandbox Learning Environment, you are able to create dummy movements where you assign your organisation as each of the movement participant roles.

To achieve this, you will need at least one location to add as the Pick Up and/or Drop Off location of the waste movement. If you do not have a location associated with your account, you can add a location (real or made up).

As your account will be responsible for each role, you will then be able to complete all steps of a movement.

Please note in this scenario you may be notified that your organisation isn't licensed or approved to complete that action. As it is a learning environment, you're able to accept these warnings and proceed to complete the movement.

Creating trial movements with other participants

The sandbox is an opportunity to simulate your waste movements as close to the real world as you can. This means you may want to collaborate with other participants in your supply chain to complete the steps of a movements. For example, if you're a transport company you may want to collaborate with a generator and a receival facility, or if you're a receival facility you may want to collaborate with a transporter and a generator.

To achieve the creation of a trial movement with other participants, all you need to do is simply create the movement and enter the required details that can include other participants such as:

  • Pick Up Location: Search the list of existing locations and their associated operators and select an appropriate location. If the location doesn't exist, you can create a new movement location.

  • Drop Off Location: Search the list of existing locations and their associated operators and select an appropriate location. If the location doesn't exist, you can create a new movement location.

  • Consignor: Search for the Consignor organisation and select an appropriate consignor. If their organisation doesn't exist, you can create a new organisation.

  • Transporter: Search for the Transporter organisation and select an appropriate Transporter. If their organisation doesn't exist, you can create a new organisation.

If you add a new organisation and their users would like access, please have them Register via the website to gain access to their Sandbox account.

These participants will be able to view the details of the movement and complete the steps relevant to their role within the movement.

Creating trial movements that incur a fee in QLD

IWTS has functionality to process fees associated with movements in QLD that require a payment of a fee. For trial purposes your accounts will have a dummy amount of $ added to it. When creating movements requiring a fee you will be able to allocate the fee from your fee wallet to the movement.

Creating trial movements in QLD using bulk CSV upload

IWTS has functionality to support uploading completed movements in bulk through a CSV upload. You will be able to explore the template and upload dummy movements for the relevant waste types. If you are already using bulk upload in QLD today, the Sandbox is a great environment to trial the functionality early on.

IWTS on Mobile

IWTS allows operators to complete movement steps on mobile as well! Click here to learn how to access on mobile.
